Manuel Tavarez co-founded Agallas Equities and drives the firm’s vision, strategy, and long-term growth. He spearheads investment decisions, investor relations, and the execution of real estate development and acquisition strategies, maintaining a disciplined focus on value creation, rigorous underwriting, and due diligence. This approach ensures prudent capital deployment and consistently strong risk-adjusted returns.
Before founding Agallas Equities, Manuel built extensive financial expertise through investment banking roles at ING and UBS. His hands-on leadership spans the full real estate lifecycle—acquisitions, financing, development, and property management—across diverse markets, including the Northeast U.S. and the Dominican Republic. He has a proven track record of managing projects from concept to completion, optimizing returns through innovative design, efficient execution, and strategic market positioning.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Manuel has consistently delivered double-digit growth across his investments by identifying and capitalizing on emerging opportunities in evolving markets. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Barry University and an Master’s in Science from Pace University.
Manuel’s governance experience includes serving as a Trustee for two major New York City pension systems:
- Board of Education Retirement System (BERS – $10B AUM): Voted on strategic initiatives, investment policies, and fiduciary compliance for the retirement system serving NYC school employees.
- Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS – $108B AUM): Approved critical decisions, including asset allocation targets and manager selection across public and private markets for one of the nation’s largest public pension funds.
